That's right
Nathan is 3 years old, we have a cop in the house,
and this morning he ate his first donut!
He wasn't too sure about it at first but once he got a taste dug right in
I know it's hard to believe, but I don't ever buy donuts at the store and we don't really stop for them (and that includes my husband who is a police officer-contrary to popular belief)
Gotta finish it off with a nice glass of milk (yes, he chose the pink donut and happens to be drinking out of the one pink glass we own)
He ate the entire thing!
(don't tell anyone but mommy had two. One for me and one for the baby!)

My little man loves to cook!
Ryan found this play kitchen for $20.
It's actually quite cheap.
You get what you pay for, I guess.
We are going to get him a bigger one for his birthday
since he loved this one so much.

My kid loves to read.

We started making bi-weekly trips to the library over the summer. It's been going pretty good-no late fees so far (and those of you who know me know what a big deal that is). He seriously can't get enough of books and the collection he has, while large, just wasn't cutting it anymore. He would literally spend hours if we let him just flipping through all his books. Good thing he can't quite get to all of them or we'd have a real mess on our hands!

this little boy is a Cubs fan.
I don't have the heart to tell him
that being a Cubs fan
is sometimes a sad and disappointing road.
But we wouldn't have it any other way.

That's my wonderful baby reading books in his bed. He does that once in awhile so that his daddy and I can sleep in. This morning he woke up at about 7:45 and I went in his room to say good morning, gave him a couple books and his paci, and went back to bed. I didn't hear a peep from him again for an entire hour! He sure knows when his mommy and daddy could use some extra zzz's!

our baby can READ!
*We were expecting Ryan's mom any minute and toward the end of the video she arrives (hence the doorbell). I cut the last one short rather than let her stand outside and freeze!

That's my kid sitting in the corner.
It was his therapist's idea, actually. Instead of wanting to sit and play, Nate is always trying to get down to the floor so he can go. This makes it difficult to work on his sitting, which he is still perfecting. So we put him in the corner. It works like a charm actually. Especially if you put a mirror in front of him. Then you can sit back and watch him make funny faces.
Like this.
Or this.
We realized that he doesn't have a balance problem while sitting. Just an endurance issue due to his weak trunk muscles*. But he proved that he could do it, and sat happily and played for at least 20 minutes!
*The funny blue vest with all the velcro are his thera togs. It's something new we are trying to get him to have just a little more ab support than the kinesio tape we had been using. It's a royal pain to get on but it seems to be helping!
