And now please allow me to brag a little (or a lot!) Nathan can now SIT UNSUPPORTED!!! There was a time when I felt like we would never get to this point, and then one day he was just doing it! By himself! It took a lot of hard work on his part but we are finally there. He still needs to use his hands to support himself once in awhile but as with everything else, in time I'm sure he won't need to. Being the paranoid mommy I am, I still put pillows around him-just in case (I'm terrified of him falling to his right side and landing on his shunt). Here are a couple recent pics of our big boy! We are so, so, so proud!

He's so close!
Nate is thisclose to getting into the crawling position all by himself. When he first started attempting, he could only get up on his right knee and would fall almost immediately. Now he's figured how to rack back enough that he can get up on his left knee, too! He spends a little time each day playing and exploring on the floor and we will often catch him trying to get into this position. And when I set him down on the floor, I purposefully put him in a 4 point position which he happily holds for a few seconds before falling (willingly) to the floor so he can army crawl over to whatever toy he just spotted. I think once he gets that full, strong motion of getting up and holding that position it will only be a matter of time before he starts taking steps toward crawling.

Go baby go!
All Nathan wants to do is move around, inchworm style, and poke, grab, point at and otherwise feel EVERYTHING and ANYTHING. It is so fun watching him move about, considering this and that, first cautiously touching (sometimes with his forehead-?) then moving on to find something else interesting to check out. One of his favorite games is to send one of his stacking cups or rings flying then inchworm his way to it, then send it flying in another direction and hurridly chase it again. It's to the point now where he doesn't even want to be held...he just squirms and squirms until you put him on the floor. And, more recently, he can't even sit still in his bed. Nope, all he wants to do is roll over and stick his hands out the side of the crib. I've found him asleep in this position the past two nights!

Started out by the window, checking out the curtain that was blowing in the breeze.

Then he spotted mommy with the camera and made his way over.

Wait! What's that?

What IS this thing anyway?

Off to check out more furniture.

I think I'll stop and check out this thing for awhile.

Someday soon, I'll be able to catch you doggy!

Inchworm
Here is a video of Nathan doing what I like to call "the inchworm". He really has some tremendous upper body strength! Today was cool (don't even get me started about this summer's weather...we haven't swam in our pool in weeks!) so he had long pants on and was just able to go, go, go on the hardwood floors! Notice what he is going for...works every time!
